Learn Chinese in Warwick, Visit China during the summer!

 
The summer programme in Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China. runs for 4 weeks, and is a fantanstic opportunity to learn Mandarin Chinese intensively, and experience contemporary China and Chinese culture firsthand. In the past years, students have thoroughly enjoyed it. Now this programme is established and become a yearly sensation!

Language Centre's 2014-2015 Chinese Summer Programme Application is open now and will end on 11 April, 2015. Everyone who is learning Chinese here (both academic modules and Lifelong learning programme) is eligible to apply. If you are interested, please see the application form, the 2013-2014's schedule (Group A, and Group B) and other requirements just for reference. In this year's programme, we will provide students with the two options in Beijing Normal University.


Option 1: Warwick student Group. They will learn Warwick Chinese 3 syllabus in Beijing Normal University, and come to do Chinese 4 back in Warwick. The students of current Chinese 2 and Beginners Accelerated classes should ideally take this opportunity to enhance their Chinese learning.If you are currently a first year student in Warwick, attending this group will enable you to accomplish your degree with an advance level of Chinese (Chinese 5) upon graduation. The class size is 12 minimum in order to run it.

Option 2: Non-Warwick student group. They will join BNU’s short-term summer courses with students from other countries, after being assigned to a class suitable for your level there. You will be learning BNU’s syllabus and be assessed afresh to a Chinese class back in Warwick.

Duration: 3 – 30 August 2015

Costs:

  • Tuition: 3100 CNY per student
  • Application fee: 350 CNY
  • Cultural tours: 600 CNY
  • Accommodation (advance booking required): 120 CNY pppn (for two occupants sharing a double room with bathroom), 140 CNY pppn for a single occupant with bathroom)

Those who get the place will be notified and pay the adiministration fee of £25 to the Reception of the Language Centre on the acceptance of a place offer by 2pm Friday, 24th April, 2015.


Beijing Normal University can have pick-up from airport if needed. Students themselves need to book their own air tickets and apply visa by going to the Chinese Embassy website and following the procedures listed there.

Briefings will be provided at the end of May or later by Dr. Zhiyan Guo, who will email you to fix a time hopefully suitable for all participants.
