Earthquake in central Italy - advice for students

If you are travelling in the affected area, please follow the advice of the local authorities. Civil Protection have activated a hotline 800840840 for information. To learn more what to do before, during, and after an earthquake visit the Protezione Civile website (http://www.protezionecivile.gov.it/jcms/en/rischio_sismico.wp).

Update to Munich shootings

This morning 23rd July we are very pleased to say that all our students in Munich would appear to be safe. Munich police have given a cautious all-clear, and public transport has reopened. Any student can contact the German Year Abroad team in the usual way, by email, and our counselling support is available (counselling@warwick.ac.uk).

Shootings in Munich

The School of Modern Languages and Cultures is shocked and saddened by the reports of shootings in a Munich shopping mall this evening 22 July. We send our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those affected. Any students who are currently in Germany, and especially in Munich, should heed the advice of the local authorities, remain vigilant, and stay off the streets. At this time transportation has been partially halted, and the night-time trams and buses are not operating. Facebook has activated its Safety Check feature. Police in Munich have opened a phone line for anyone seeking information about missing persons: 0800 7766 350. If you are able to do so, we ask you to make contact with your personal tutor to confirm your safety. Students who have been affected in any way by these events can contact the German Year Abroad team in the usual way, by email, and counselling support is also available (counselling@warwick.ac.uk).

Attack in Nice

The School of Modern Languages and Cultures is shocked and saddened by the tragic attack in Nice last night. We send our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those affected. Any students who are currently in France, and especially in the Nice region, should continue to heed the advice of the local authorities and remain vigilant. An emergency number has been set up by the French authorities for anyone in the UK concerned about friends or relatives in Nice (+3343175646) and the French Embassy in Paris has a 24 hour helpline number (+33144513100). Students who have been affected in any way by the events can contact the French Year Abroad team in the usual way, by email, while counselling support is also available (counselling@warwick.ac.uk).
