Hello everyone.
You are invited to fill in this form to signal an interest in teaching in the next academic year (2025-26).
Filling in the form is optional and does not constitute a commitment for either the School or yourself. But gauging the potential interest, and the experience and availability of our PhD students will help us plan next year's teaching loads and distribution.
If you are fairly new to SMLC, new to teaching, or new to teaching a certain type of class, it can be a good idea for you to observe or audit some classes in the current academic year (essentially in the second half of this term, bearing in mind that there is very little teaching in term 3).
Try to be realistic, when indicating your interest: how much time are you likely to have next year to prepare and deliver classes, do any marking, and so on? As always, making good progress and finishing the thesis must come first: do discuss whether it's wise to take on any teaching commitments with your supervisors, when planning your timetable for completion. Are there other skills that you need to concentrate on first? Do you need to undertake fieldwork that would encroach on your availability? Will you be 'around' in both terms 1 and term 2?
THANK YOU FOR FILLING IN THE FORM BY WEDNESDAY 5 FEBRUARY, 12 NOON.
