Stephen Gundle to give the 2024 Leconfield Lecture at the Italian Cultural Institute in London on 6 November
His topic is 'Two Faces of the Italian Film Industry: Dino De Laurentiis and Suso Cecchi D'Amico'.
The producer De Laurentiis was one of the architects of the rise of Italian cinema in the 1950s and 1960s, while Cecchi D'Amico, who for many years was the only working female screenwriter, authored over a hundred screenplays, including most of Visconti's films.
