WIHEA Promotion Workshops
Workshops Description
Following the very positive feedback from previous workshops, two further WIHEA workshops took place in November. 2021. We were aware many of Fellows and Alumni were planning to apply for promotion at some point, or support others to get promoted on teaching and learning achievements. Each session included several WIHEA Fellows/Alumni, who shared their stories and gave their observations of what may be key to making a successful application to ‘the next stage’ of academic recognition. After recounting their own experiences, they were happy to answer questions.
Both workshops were chaired by Dr Letizia Gramaglia, Academic Director of WIHEA and Head of Academic Development Centre. There was some time after the talks to discuss the practicalities and experiences further and Dr Gramaglia was able to answer questions or relate discussions to the new criteria, as she was part of the group that rewrote the academic promotion criteria, on the basis of the work the Learning Circle on Teaching Reward and Recognition had done to inform the new criteria.
Please see below for further information on both WIHEA sessions.
We joined up with WIE who were running a separate session directly before each WIHEA session, which focused more specifically on the impact, outreach and engagement criteria which is often one of the most difficult sections to write. WIHEA Fellows and Alumni were invited to attend.
