Awarding Criteria

In allocating the above bursaries, the selection committee will base their decisions on the following criteria:

  • Excellent academic performance
  • Outstanding case for support
  • Interesting and relevant individual attributes (e.g. background, relevant work experience, extracurricular activities, etc.)
  • Quality of the application statement, e.g. is it concise, well-articulated, engaging, etc.
  • For those applying to the MSc in Urban Informatics and Analytics, candidates working with city councils and public administration will also be considered very favourably.

The primary factor determining an application's success in the bursary is the strength of the case for support. This case for support should demonstrate why you fit the above criteria as well as reflect your motivations for choosing to do a CIM degree.

The case for support should be no more than 800 words in length and should differ from the statement of purpose submitted with your application to the university. We will aim to notify applicants of a decision within 6-8 weeks of the closing date.

Please note:

Applicants must complete two applications to be eligible for consideration - one for the Masters course (here) and one for the Bursary (here)

Applications with missing or late documentation will not be considered.

Successful applications must accept their offer by 14 September 2018 to receive the bursary.

Waiting list applicants will be notified by the end of September whether or not a place has been confirmed.
