Extensive publications on social work's contribution to tackling health inequalities, and on the development of feminist social work. Several empirical studies on the significance of emergency department based social work for older service users' well-being, including, the first UK survey and systematic review of ED based nurse led social care.
My research, teaching and practice have concentrated on community action, feminist social work and social work's contribution to tackling inequalities in physical health. In 2004 I co-founded SWHIN (Social Work and Health Inequalities Network) hhtp://blogs.coventry.ac.uk/swhin the first international research network for social work research addressing health inequalities, which was awarded ESRC Research Seminar Series Funding in 2005. A Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, I have been a visiting lecturer to the Department of Social Work, University of Stockholm, and have been Assistant Editor of the British Journal of Social Work, and am currently on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Progressive Human Services USA.
