The physical chemistry of the surface layers of liquids

- Export as iCalendar
Location: R3.41

On Wednesday 21st June at 3pm in R3.41, we will have an invited computational chemistry seminar by Dr. Marcello Sega from UCL, titled "The physical chemistry of the surface layers of liquids".

The seminar will be followed by drinks and snacks in G block. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Abstract:

During the last decade, computational analysis tools have helped us improve our understanding of liquid surfaces, revealing their complex structure and the presence of peculiar surface phenomena happening at the scale of the single molecular layer, including geometric phase transitions, enhanced transport properties and hydrodynamic collective modes. In this talk, I will present an overview of recent results highlighting the richness of the physics and chemistry of the surface layer in simple and less simple fluids, from the deep supercooled region to the critical point.
