Dr Rebecca Notman Awarded Royal Society University Research Fellowship
The stratum corneum (SC), the topmost layer of the skin, is an amazing biological barrier with intriguing biophysical properties. However due to the complex molecular structure and organisation of the SC, it remains poorly understood. Becky’s research aims to address the gaps in our understanding of the skin barrier by means of molecular dynamics computer simulations. The outcomes of her work will help to address challenges such as skin barrier impairment (a major global health issue), transdermal drug delivery for novel therapeutics, and the development of innovative touch technologies.
