Award for Dave Haddleton
On Sunday, Dave Haddleton was presented with an award for “recognition of outstanding service and contribution to the Royal Society of Chemistry Publishing” at the RSC Editors Symposium banquet at the Guildhall in London. The award was given for service on the Board of “Chem Comm”, and for being Editor in Chief – and launching – “Polymer Chemistry”.
Award for Peter
Professor Hong Liang, President of Guangxi Normal University, presents an award to Peter Sadler after his Plenary Lecture to the International Symposium on Medicinal Bioinorganic Chemistry, held in Guilin, China, on 18 July 2015.
Painting the Dragon
Peter Sadler and the other Plenary Lecturers were called upon to ‘paint the dragon’ at the Asian Coordination Chemistry Conference (ACCC5) held in Hong Kong from 12-16 July 2015
Warwick Chemistry at Cheltenham Festival of Science
Warwick Chemistry took part in the 2015 Cheltenham Festival of Science with hands-on demonstrations by Nick Barker and helpers, and a lecture by Matt Gibson.
Medema Award given to Dave Haddleton
Dave Haddleton has recently been given the PTN (Polymer Technology Netherlands) 2015 “Medema Award”.
The annual prize is awarded to prolific polymer scientists who interact, or have close ties, with polymer research in the Netherlands. The award is named after the late PTN chairman, Dick Medema, who was the former R&D director at Shell.

Vincent Poon takes his science to Parliament
Vincent Poon, a PhD student in Christophe Corre’s group, has attended Parliament to present his research on exploiting soil bacteria to unlock the production of novel antibiotics. Vincent presented to a range of politicians and a panel of expert judges, as part of SET for Britain on Monday 9th March.

Congratulations to James Silk who won the Salters’ Graduate Prize at their Annual Awards Ceremony.
David Burnett wins poster prize
PhD student David Burnett from Richard Walton’s group was awarded best poster prize at the International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Association conference held in Bordeaux October 26-29th. His poster, "Hydrothermal Synthesis of Doped RuO2 Materials", concerned new synthetic routes to conducting oxide materials.
