Glass Blowing

Welcome to our very own Glassblowing Service page.

Our in-house award winning 'University' glassblower Steve Williams has a wealth of experience in both scientific and decorative glassblowing fabrication.

Steve began his glassblowing journey 42 years ago.

He learnt his craft in an industrial setting where he spent 10 years under the wings of several experienced University trained glassblowers. Steve then went on to become Chief Glassblower at the University of Birmingham, where he dedicated 26 years of service before moving to Warwick in 2019.

Over the course of Steve's career, he has collaborated with world leading scientific researchers, designing and fabricating the most complex of pieces. He's also produced awards for several Nobel Prize Laureates and crafted many artistic pieces for University Royal visits, Houses of Parliament, the late Author Terry Pratchett, numerous Museums, Michelin starred dinning events and multiple student projects from triple walled reaction vessels, to glass jewellery. All in day's work!

Our well-equipped glassblowing workshop enables Steve to offer a comprehensive service to all University of Warwick departments and external businesses/clients/other 'academic institutions'.

Steve is available to design/fabricate/modify/repair 'bespoke' and most 'commonly' used scientific glassware. He also enjoys the occasional request of creating decorative/artistic pieces.

He also offers an 'invaluable' cost effective repair service. From simple to the most complex of pieces.

Please feel free to contact Steve for advice and to discuss your requirements.

He will gladly provide a no obligation quotation.
