The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Diamond Science and Technology (DST), has diamond-based research at the core of all activities. The DST CDT involves a consortium of nine UK universities, led by Warwick, and over thirty companies, keen to exploit the vast potential of diamond.

The four-year Diamond Science and Technology Programme combines a one-year MSc at Warwick and a linked three-year PhD at one of nine partner institutions.

There are still fully funded studentships available to start in September 2018. The tax free stipend currently £14,777 per annum (2018-19 rate)*.

In Year 1, students undertake a purpose-designed MSc in Diamond Science and Technology (includes modules on Materials, New Technologies and Applications) at Warwick University. The MSc includes two, ten-week mini-projects at two different universities or industrial partners, which link to the theme of their chosen PhD. The PhD takes place in Years 2-4 at Warwick or one of the partner universities.

PhD projects are available in the areas of Quantum Technologies, Optics & Photonics, Electronics & Devices, Geophysics, Manufacturing, Theory & Computation, and Medical, Biophysics & Biochemistry.

Applicants should hold or expect to be awarded a first or upper second class honours BSc, MSc or MPhys, MChem, MEng, etc. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Earth Science, Engineering or in an appropriate related discipline.
