Project Engineer - Laser Welding Quality Control

An exciting opportunity exists to be part of the Digital Lifecycle Management Group, part of the world renowned WMG at the University of Warwick. This position will support rapid deployment of new manufacturing technologies necessary for lightweight e-mobility strategy in the automotive industry. It builds on WMG’s award-winning simulation technology, which led to the first fully digitally developed aluminium car door with remote laser welding (RLW) and production certified battery busbar assembly using RLW. This is an excellent opportunity for you to apply your technical skills within the strategically important areas of laser welding technology and its application for a new automotive manufacturing system for e-mobility being developed as part of the new High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult project with focus on monitoring and predicting weld quality for RLW of busbar lattices to cell assembly process. This project will apply the latest sensing methods in real time and monitor trends to predict the weld quality and diagnose error states. The full job description can be found here.
