Warwick academics support Synthetic Biology future

Synthetic Biology has been identified by the Government as a major growth area for both research and industry. Professor Declan Bates (School of Engineering) along with collaborator Professor Orkun Soyer (School of Life Sciences) are working with the Rainbow Seed Fund to improve knowledge of the field to both the public and stakeholders.

Synthetic Biology is "the engineering of biology", using engineering approaches to design new biological systems. Rainbow Seed Fund asked Orkun and Declan, members of Warwick Centre for Integrative Synthetic Biology (WISB), to make a video explaining what Synthetic Biology is and what could potentially be achieved:
