ICE President visits School of Engineering

The President of the Institution of Civil Engineering (left) was given a tour by Professor Toby Mottram (middle) of our research laboratories during his visit to the local Warwick and Coventry Group on Wednesday 20th February. Professor Barry Clarke (left) was introduced to a range of civil engineering research and spent time speaking with Professor Wanda Lewis on the relevance of form-finding to sustainable structures and with Dr Qing Ni and Erye Hoover (PhD student), on the use of transparent soil to visualise ground disturbance when retrieving samples. Dr Stana Zivanovic (right) summarised for the President the performance and impact of her unique 20m span footbridge (in the photo) that is for research on human-structure interaction. After the tour Dr Benoît Jones gave a presentation to introduce our new MSc in Tunnelling and Underground Space.
