Congratulations to Drs Leeson & Ni

Dr Qing Ni has been awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Secondment to work with Arup in Solihull. The Industrial Secondment Scheme provides an opportunity for engineering teaching staff in universities to gain state-of-the-art industrial experience, with the objective of enabling secondees to impart the fruits of this experience to their students through teaching, through case studies using up-to-date material and, in the longer term, through course design. Arup is one of the world's leading firms of consulting engineers and designers.

Dr Mark Leeson has been awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering/Leverhulme Senior Research Fellowship. These Fellowships provide an opportunity for mid-career academics to be relieved of their administrative and teaching responsibilities - in Mark's case for one year - to concentrate on full-time research, and covers the cost of a replacement academic for that period, plus some support funds.
