Oral Presentation Prize for Civil Engineering Student

Congratulations to PhD student Soroush Abolfathi, who received the prize for best oral presentation at the recent 10th Young Coastal Scientists and Engineering Conference (YCSEC), held in Cardiff. The two-day event was hosted by Cardiff University, and brought together young researchers from 20 UK and overseas institutions.

Mr Abolfathi, who is supervised by Dr Pearson and Prof Guymer, delivered a presentation entitled "Pollution at the seaside: mixing due to the effects of waves & currents", highlighting results from his PhD research.

Soroush says: "It was a great experience to be amongst so many researchers in my area, and I enjoyed giving the presentation. The talk was based on my oral presentation from the Warwick School of Engineering Postgraduate Symposium, which took place in March, and feedback from that event really helped me to shape my talk at YCSES 2014."

Soroush is now invited to publish his findings in Proc ICE - Maritime Engineering (ISSN: 1741-7597).
