Driven by Her: building a community for women in Formula Student

Women from Formula Student teams across the UK are coming together through Driven by her, a new network created to connect, support and celebrate women in the Formula Student community.

From designing and building race cars to working trackside and preparing for careers in motorsport, women are at the heart of Formula Student teams across the UK. Now, Driven by Her is bringing women from teams across the UK together to share experiences, offer advice and build a stronger community.

The network recently celebrated its growing community at Carchella, an event held in collaboration with Formula Student UK. The event brought together women from across the Formula Student paddock, as well as members of industry, providing an opportunity to connect, share experiences and raise awareness of the network.

Attendees were welcomed with specially created survival kits containing some of the essentials for life in the paddock – including hair bobbles, plasters and sanitary products – alongside custom mirrors, made with support from the Engineering Build Space (EBS) team. There were also bracelet-making kits, stickers and information about Driven by Her.

The event proved a huge success, helping the network gain visibility and connect with women from Formula Student teams across the country.

We are excited to see what the future holds for Driven by Her! You can follow their progress on Instagram at @drivenbyher.fs or LinkedIn at @driven-by-her-fs
