Warwick ESMO Satellite Team win top IET Prize

At a recent Engineering Poster Presentation evening promoted by the Institution of Engineering Technology the Warwick ESMO student team were awarded the top prize for technological innovation.

School of Engineering part of Europe-wide sensor project

Prof. Julian Gardner, leader of the Electrical and Electronic Stream in the School of Engineering, is part of a European project developing sensors for harsh environments, which may be used in domestic boilers to lower energy usage, amongst other applications.

Warwick take honours in British Dam Society Competition

Warwick Civil Engineers have secured the top three places in the British Dam Society essay competition. Students were asked to write 1000 words on 'The Benefits of Dams'. The winning students are: 1st Jason Kwong; 2nd Justin Hill; and 3rd Nicholas Eccles. Congratulations to all three who win a free attendance at the BDS conference, £200 and £100 respectively. The prizes will be awarded by Ian Hope, Vice-Chair of the BDS. The School of Engineering has also rewarded the first prize winner with a cheque for £200.

Warwick Engineering Student wins Award

Congratulations to Torgyn Shaikhina who won the IT and Computer Science Undergraduate of the Year Award in the finals of the national TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards. Torgyn is studying Computer and Information Engineering at Warwick. The award was sponsored by BT and, through a series of online tests, application forms, interviews and assessment exercises, Torgyn emerged as winner. BT only targeted a relatively small number of universities and so she beat off competition from other excellent students from other excellent universities. This award was one of twelve presented on the day and each award was sponsored by a top graduate recruiter: Deloitte, Barclays, Mars, Ernst & Young, Morgan Stanley, Laing O’Rourke, E.ON, EDF Energy, RBS, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, BT and Mayer Brown.
