New paper form MINRESCUE in Construction and Building Materials

The paper entitled "Early age hydration behaviour of foam concrete containing a coal mining waste: novel experimental procedures and effects of capillary pressure" from Josephine Foghi’s work on the MINRESCUE project has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Construction and Building Materials (a top journal in construction material’s field). The paper is co-authored by Liem Vo and Mohammad Rezania (from Warwick University) Mohaddeseh Mousavi Nezhad (from Liverpool University) and Liberato Ferrara (from Plitecnico di Milano). In this paper an innovative laboratory setup, incorporating high capacity tensiometers (HCTs) into purpose-built unsaturated oedometer cells, is proposed to investigate the curing behaviour of foam concrete, with inclusion of mining waste aggregates, during early age hydration. The incorporation of the HCTs made it possible to directly monitor the matric suction evolution of the mix and the corresponding interplays depending on the foam concrete samples’ (water- or air-) curing conditions.
