Early health technology assessment using the MAFEIP tool. A case study on a wearable device for fall prediction in elderly patients
Since 2014, Prof. Pecchia had the privilege to work with the European Commission JRC for the design and development of the MAFEIP tool.
After many years, Dr. Carlo Federici and Prof. Pecchia decided to publish the work that generated the first case study used to test the tool and drove its first piloting.
After 6 years of work, the Commission made the tool compulsory for H2020 2019-2020 proposals in the area of digital health (i.e., SC1-HCC-05-2018, SC1-DTH-05-2019, SC1-DTH-10-2019-2020, DT-TDS-01-2019), which accounted for €96million of investment in research and innovation in 2 years. This tool will play an important role also in Horizon Europe calls.
