Giacomo Pratesi and Davide Piaggio Awarded IAS Visiting Professorship for Research on Early Learning Disorder Screening
Giacomo Pratesi and Davide Piaggio have been awarded a Visiting Professorship at the Institute of Advanced Study (IAS) at the University of Warwick. Dr Piaggio, who served as both the nominator and applicant, will collaborate with Mr Pratesi to advance research on "DINO by Paperbox HealthLink opens in a new window," a web-based 2D video game designed as a multiple-choice quiz for the early screening of learning disorders.
DINO helps identify early markers of learning disorders, addressing underidentification caused by high costs and long wait times. During the fellowship, data collection will begin in English primary schools (talks are on going with Storywood Link opens in a new windowin Birmingham), to validate the English version of the tool. The project also aims for medical device certification and incorporating intelligent automation for risk classification.
Beyond research activities, Mr Pratesi will contribute to the academic community at Warwick by sharing expertise on startup creation through a series of seminars, sponsored by the Biomedical Engineering Insitute. This initiative builds on their previous work in biomedical engineering and digital health, strengthening collaborations between research and industry (read more about that hereLink opens in a new window).
