MSc Welcome Week
Our academic induction activities during Welcome Week are designed to help you settle in, make new friends and prepare yourself for the start of term.
All School of Engineering Postgraduate taught academic induction activities will take place across Thursday 26 September and Friday 27 September. Please check your Welcome Week timetable for specific timings and locations.

9am - 10am | PGT Registration | Physics concourse (outside Physics Lecture Theatre (PLT)) | An introduction to the School of Engineering, including all the essential information you need to know. The presentation will begin promptly at 10am. Please arrive at any point from 9am onwards to collect your pack of information and visit stands advertising the Engineering student societies. |
10am - 11.30am | School of Engineering: Postgraduate Taught Welcome | PLT | |
11.30am - 12.20pm | Engineering PGT Coffee & Cake Social | Physics concourse (outside PLT) | An opportunity to meet Engineering staff and other incoming postgraduate taught students in an informal setting. Refreshments will be provided! |
12.20pm-1.10pm | IT Training | F2.11 | An introduction to important IT resources and how to use them. |
1.10pm - 2pm | Tour of the School of Engineering & PPE Collection |
and Civil Strong Floor (D0.35) for PPE |
An opportunity for you to have a tour of the School of Engineering, and to collect personal protective equipment (PPE) for lab sessions; this includes safety boots, lab coats, and safety glasses/overspecs (the latter for glasses wearers). Please attend the Student Hub (F.105 & F1.06) - student ambassadors will take you for a tour and PPE collection from there. |
2.15pm - 3.45pm | Welcome Social | Rootes Panorama Suite | A very warm welcome to all of our incoming School of Engineering students including undergraduates, postgraduate taught students, and degree apprentices. Come along and meet your Department; food and drink will be provided! |

PPE Collection | Thu 26 Sep | Civil Strong Floor (D0.35)
PPE comprises safety boots/shoes, a lab coat, and safety glasses/overspecs (for glasses wearers). All items are provided by the School of Engineering free of charge and are to be collected from 1.10pm - 2pm on Thursday 26 September from the School of Engineering 'Civil Strong Floor' (D0.35).
Available sizing will use 'UK' measurements as below:
