How we stay in touch

As a department, our main method of communication with you will be emails.
This is the simplest, and most effective way to share information. Any emails sent to module cohorts will also be stored on the relevant Moodle pages in the Forums. If you lose a module group email, then the quickest way to refer back to it would be to have a look on the associated forum: most general messages will be located in the MSc Student Guide forum.
Due to the fact that we will use emails as our direct method of communication, it is imperative that you access and check your Warwick email account regularly. You can either load them onto your mobile phone and receive instant notifications when a new email enters your inbox or set reminders to check your emails at certain points during the day. Alternatively, you can set up forward rules. If you do not get into the habit of doing this then you will miss out on important updates.
On the Monday of every week, during term-time, we will send out a 'PGT Student Update' email, which will contain information that is relevant for that week. Bi-monthly we send out a 'Careers Round-up' email, this will cover opportunities along with relevant conferences, events, talks and SLS Careers and Placement Sessions.
Virtual Notice Board
The Virtual Notice Board (VNB) is a reference point for you that focuses on extra-curricular activities, campus events and other relevant information. Moodle is the main go-to platform for academic content.
We have set up Careers and Placements, Events and Health & Wellbeing channels (Teams name for ‘spaces/groups’).
- The Careers and Placements channel houses information on talks, events, conferences, jobs, placement opportunities, workshops, volunteering opportunities and other careers related information.
- The Events channel lists future talks, conferences, campus activities, and local cultural events.
- In Health and Wellbeing you will find links to articles and activities focusing on how to look after yourselves.
The VNB will be activated from the start of term, i.e. 30 September 2024 and we will notify you in our weekly Student Update (a summary of key information and updates we sent to all undergraduate students every Monday during term time).
If you are every unsure who to contact for information about any aspect of your studies at the School of Life Sciences, please contact our Educational Support Services (ESS) office by email (slspgt@warwick.ac.uk), or visit the Student Reception in room D118, Biotechnology building (interactive campus map link).
