'I’m delighted that you’ll be joining us, and I hope you are looking forward to starting the next stage of your studies with us.

Life Sciences is an exciting and rapidly developing subject, and during your time here you’ll have the opportunity to learn from scientists working at the forefront of research into biological systems and addressing major global challenges. You’ll also be able to develop your own interests and ambitions, while becoming part of a diverse and supportive community of students and staff.

Postgraduate study brings many new experiences, so please do make the most of Welcome Week, get to know your fellow students, and don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek help when you need it.

I hope you have a very enjoyable and rewarding time with us, and I look forward to welcoming you to the School in person.'

Welcome to the School of Life Sciences

Postgraduate

Congratulations on receiving your offer to join the School of Life Sciences (SLS) at Warwick. To ensure your transition into university life is as easy as possible, we have created this online resource which will guide you through your journey as an incoming student.

These pages have been split into key sections and focus on your preparation before arriving. Welcome Week begins on Monday 28th September 2026, which will have a combination of central university and School of Life Sciences activities organised for you to attend. There is guidance on these pages on where to find information for Welcome, Week 1, and beyond. Please read through the ‘Before you arrive’ section before your course begins, as this will provide you with an insight as to what to expect.

We hope that this information will answer many of the questions you have at this stage, but there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout Welcome Week and beyond.

In addition, our students have created a welcome handbook to help you prepare for joining SLS. You can find this here: Student Handbook

An Inclusive Experience

In the School of Life Sciences, we recognise that everyone has something to bring, and we are fortunate enough to have such a great diversity in our student body. With that comes lots of opportunity to learn new things and support each other so that we can feel included. We genuinely want to get to know you, to hear about your culture and to utilise your strengths and experiences to grow as a school – we are looking forward to having you with us!

We strive to achieve a fully inclusive educational experience and are dedicated to achieving equality and celebrating our diversity.  We continue to work hard to ensure that our EDI committee is central to the School’s activity and that our task force priorities are at the forefront of our work across all aspects of school activity. Take a look at our EDI pages Link opens in a new windowto see what we’ve been up to recently, including securing our Silver Athena Swan Award for Gender Equality.
