Research Title:

A comparative study of Menstrual Literacy of adolescents in low-resource settings of the Philippines and the UK

About my research:

My research is into the Menstrual Literacy of adolescents. Menstruation in low-resource settings is a challenge when many things, like pads, painkillers, and privacy, are all in short supply. Young adolescents may restrict their participation in daily activities and become withdrawn. In some parts of the world, girls stop attending school. I’m interested in what factors affect menstrual experiences and in particular, whether menstrual education can improve menstrual health and well-being. The research is focussing on the Philippines and on the UK in order to provide contrast between income, religion, culture, and school system.
