Breaking Ground:

Saturday 21 October 2023 - The Slate, University of Warwick

We invite students and staff from universities across the UK to celebrate success in widening participation, sharing best practice, and explore opportunities in enhancing support available for under-represented groups in higher education.

This conference is themed: Breaking Ground. We are proud to be delivering protected internships, designed by those that they serve. We aim to break ground by not only building widening access to clinical research with input from those from these backgrounds, but by also sharing best practice to create significant strides in supporting our under-represented future clinical academics.

Conference highlights

Showcase your research through oral or poster presentations, focusing on projects aligned with the Beacon Conference values.

Participate in the Mentor Cafe, where you can develop mentoring skills and support students from under-represented groups.

How you can get involved

Speakers: We will be releasing our confirmed speaker line up very shortly, but if you would like to deliver a talk or present a project aligned with the values of the Beacon Conference please do get in touch here

Poster Presentations: Students are invited to submit abstracts to present posters at the conference. Abstracts should be related to research performed by students from under-represented groups or research that aligns with the Beacon Conference values.

Mentor Café: Are you interested in developing your mentoring skills or becoming a mentor for students from under-represented groups? We are seeking individuals who can sit, have a coffee, and engage with fellow attendees, answering questions and sharing their experiences in academia. Coffee and cake will be provided.

Please register your interest in attendance, oral presentations, poster presentations, or the Mentor Café.
