Inclusive Research
WMS is committed to inclusive research by addressing disparities in career development and enhancing the impact of our research community. A key priority is the growth of the Clinical Academic (CA) and Non-Clinical Academic (NCA) workforce, with a focus on improving gender balance and addressing the limited career progression for female and minority ethnic CAs. WMS also aims to improve the profile and impact of its research by collaborating with communities to develop need-driven actions and support mechanisms. These efforts will enhance awareness and confidence around REF29 requirements, improve gender parity in grant applications and success rates, and increase the number of women successfully applying for fellowships. Central to these initiatives is the development of mentoring, peer-review, and support processes for researchers at all career stages. Through these measures, WMS seeks to create a more equitable research environment that supports diverse talent and strengthens the reach and impact of its academic contributions.
