Message to our students and staff

A message from Professor Lucy Hammond, Pro-Dean for Education

It has been deeply distressing to witness acts of disorder in some parts of the UK over recent days. Warwick Medical School takes great pride in the diversity of our community, and we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment in which everyone can thrive. There is no place for racism in our community or elsewhere.

As a Medical School with students continuing to study through the summer months, on campus and in placement settings, we understand if there are feelings of anxiety or concern in travelling, returning to university or attending placement. We want to reassure you that your safety and welfare remains our priority and remind you of the support that is available to you at any time from the University. If you have been affected in any way, please know that you are not alone.

Support for students is available through your personal tutor/clinical personal tutor or other members of the student support team. Central campus wellbeing offer daily brief consultations.

Additional support is available at Chaplaincy for students and staff of all faiths and none, during term-time and vacations. You can drop in and speak to the University Chaplains and Faith Advisors and make use of the quiet spaces and prayer rooms on main campus or at Gibbet Hill.

Staff can access wellbeing support via our Employee Assistance ProgrammeLink opens in a new window and through speaking with line managers.

If you have any safety concerns, students and staff can also report these confidentially to Report and Support. If you have immediate concerns on campus, you can contact our Community Safety team on 024 7652 2222.

We are proud of our Medical School community, and encourage students and staff to continue to look after each other and reach out to offer support to anyone who is feeling anxious and struggling and signpost them to these sources of support.
