Ann Adams is a Principal Research Fellow and the Academic Lead for Research Degrees in the Division of Mental Health and Wellbeing, Warwick Medical School. Her research is mainly in the area of mental health risk assessment, with a particular focus on service user perspectives on the relationship between personal safety, risk and wellbeing. She is the Co-developer of the Galatean Risk Screening Tool (GRiST), a web-based decision support system for assessing the risks of suicide, self-harm, harm to others, self-neglect and vulnerability. Current research focuses on myGRiST, a companion self-assessment tool to promote self-management and staying safe for service users. See www.egrist.org for more information. Ann also researches decision making and communication in clinician-patient interactions. She is currently PI for a project investigating disparities in depression care funded under a joint ESRC and NIH initiative. Ann recently held a Department of Health National Co-ordinating Centre for Research Capacity Development Career Scientist Award for a 5 year programme of research investigating 'Improving primary health care professionals decision making'. Recently, she has also supervised integrated qualitative research within complex surgical trials. Ann's PhD is in Health Sciences (University of Surrey, 1996) and she has an MSc in Social Research (University of Surrey, 1991). Her first degree was in English (University of Exeter, 1981).
