Useful digital tools

These are some of the tools students become familiar with during first year. Getting to know them and how to use them early on will pay dividends for your enhancing your education experience. University core tools should meet most of your needs.

Microsoft 365 - a suite of tools that includes your Outlook email, OneDrive SharePoint and Teams.

Microsoft 365 is a set of web-based tools that you can use to create, edit, manage and share documents, and communicate. Office365 includes Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Learning tools in Word

Moodle - your primary digital learning platform.

Moodle - this is the MB ChB digital learning platform.

Note: when you are enrolled on the MB ChB Phase Moodle spaces the Moodle important announcement forums will send notifications of the messages posted to your @warwick.ac.uk email address.

Echo360 - where all MB ChB recorded teaching sessions and educational videos are hosted.

Echo360 lecture capture - this is where recordings of teaching sessions are hosted. Echo360 lecture capture and other video recordings are stored on the Echo360 platform and made available to students via Moodle. Access is either via the phase Echo360 block, and/or recordings are embedded on Moodle pages within the context of other related learning activities.

Vevox - the #1 rated polling and Q&A platform for student engagement. Padlet - a fun and easy way to collaborate through the creation of online boards. Wireless casting with Solstice

Solstice is a wireless screencasting tool that includes the following features:

Wireless connection to the screen - no need to fiddle with cables
Casting from up to 4 devices at the same time on the same screen
Casting from tablets and smartphones - the app is on your WMS iPads
Casting just one application window from your device (as opposed to your entire screen)

We aim to provide clear signposting to the support available to discover the potential affordances of using technology in your MB ChB learning and developing your digital capability to meet the needs of your academic studies during your time at medical school and your future medical career.

About Warwick Uni central IT support

As IDG look to improve the way in which services are delivered, a key change has been made to the way in which the Service Desk operates.

Incidents and service requests should now be logged as tickets via the Service Portal. By doing this, the Service Desk team will be able capture the necessary information needed to provide support, enabling faster resolution time and allow you to track the progress of your ticket. The data collected on tickets will also be used to inform and improve the Service Desk going forward.

You will be able to access the Service Desk via the Service Portal on the IDG website,Link opens in a new window with more information on logging an incident or service requests available here.

Please note that the Service Desk will continue to be available over telephone for critical incidents such as a core system or service being down/degraded. The team can be reached on +44 (0) 2476 573737 or ext. 73737 (internally).
