My name is Carmen Chung and I'm excited to
talk about my experience as a digital
education intern.
So the digital
education internship has provided me
with a valuable opportunity to work
closely with staff and students to
identify key areas for enhancements
within our medical curriculum and I'm
delighted share with you some of the
exciting projects that we've been
working on over the last few months.
So
as part of this internship I've drawn
upon my previous experience as a
business and digital technology
consultant and since starting the role
we've not only reviewed and updated
existing resources but we've also
experimented with a range of innovative
tools and softwares.
So for example we've
been exploring the potential of
gamification and immersive experiences
in medical education through body swaps
and other virtual reality apps.
W
e've
also advocated for the adoption of
Sophia which is a curriculum mapping
tool and provided user testing on
platforms such as Moodle and these
initiatives really highlight our role
and impact in streamlining the
curriculum and improving the user
experiences for both staff and students.
We've also created a new virtual patient
case centered around muscular skeletal
medicine with a specific focus on
fractures and this case wasn't just
about the clinical side of managing
fractures we've also Incorporated
ethical dilemas and pre and
post-operative considerations too and
that is to give it a more holistic view
of the case. So moving forward I hope to
broaden this initiative to encompass all
of the Medical Specialties and create
valuable resources for
students.
Now these are just few examples
in which the digital education interns
such as myself contribute to redefining
the approach to teaching and learning
medicine.
I look forward to the
opportunity to continue making positive
impacts and through collaboration with
both staff and students we can learn and
grow together and shape the future of
our medical curriculum. Thank you.
