Careers Support

We asked Siobhan Qadir (Senior Careers Consultant for the Department of Physics) 3 quick questions about careers support.

What is career support?

Career support provides professional help with your career development, including events, workshops, one-to-one guidance, CV reviews, interview preparation, and advice on postgraduate options. The careers team helps you identify your strengths, explore career paths in physics and related fields, and build the skills you need to land roles in research, industry, data science, engineering, or whatever direction interests you. You can access support and vacancies via MyAdvantage.

How can career support help me?

Career support helps you throughout your degree and beyond by clarifying your goals through one-to-one sessions, improving your CVs and applications, and preparing you for interviews with mock practice. You will build your professional network at employer events, develop key skills like communication and teamwork, and explore opportunities including summer internships, year-in-industry placements, and graduate schemes in research, technology, finance, or engineering. We're here whether you're exploring options or making a career change. There are resources for all student groups as part of our Equality, diversity and future careers pages.
