Do I need to buy a textbook?

You will be given the core Physics textbook for free - you’ll be asked to collect from the labs during a given time-slot. For Physics students, there is a recommended textbookLink opens in a new window for the maths element of the course, available from the Library, in print or eBook.

What is Mastering Physics?

Mastering Physics is a Digital Learning Platform to support your learning and assessment. You can find out how to register and more on the PX160/PX161 Moodle pages.

Where do I hand in my problems class sheets?

The post boxes to hand in your problems class work are located on the 3rd floor stairwell (opposite the male toilets), just off the concourse entrance to the physics department

I have lots of questions about how my programme is structured. Where can I find out more information?

Do I need a particular laptop?

The university provides guidance here: Recommended IT Device Specifications for Students.

We do not have any specific departmental requirements. A high-performance computer is not required for our Physics courses as any high-performance computing done as part of the degree would use the university’s facilities.

Which calculators will be allowed in exams?

Where can I find out more information about modules I can take?

The University-wide module catalogueLink opens in a new window gives the details about all modules, who they are available to and any pre-requisites.

Each course will have a Moodle, the university’s Integrated Virtual Learning Environment (IVLE). You can find the Physics Moodles at www.warwick.ac.uk/ followed by the module code e.g. www.warwick.ac.uk/px154

Here you will find pre-reading, information about assignments and deadlines, and lecture recordings.

Can I take extra modules?

In your first year, you do not need to select any optional modules. You can find out more information about the specifications of each course and unusual 'overload' options in the Undergraduate Handbook by selecting your course and year.

In future years, you will select optional modules, according to your course specification in eVision and my.wbs for Warwick Business School modules.

Is there any English Language support available?

You can register for In-Sessional English at Warwick. The Academic English Enhancement Programme provides focused academic language and study support alongside your main degree.

Are my reasonable adjustments carried over from school or college?

The process is specific to the university. Even if you have declared a disability on your University application, you still need to meet with a Disability Advisor to agree Reasonable Adjustments; you do not have to have applied for Disabled Student Allowance to agree Reasonable Adjustments.

To find out about support options or if you suspect you may have a disability or learning difference, schedule a meeting with a Disability Adviser to discuss your individual needs. Once you have agreed for them to do so, they will then contact us to put any agreed reasonable adjustments in place for you.

What Wellbeing support is available?

The Student Health and Wellbeing ServiceLink opens in a new window offers a variety of support including consultations, self-help resources, and referral to partner teams such as Counselling and Psychotherapy or Disability Services.

I didn’t take Further Maths. Is there any maths support available?
