Martha Turvey wins best oral presentation at the British Liquid Crystal Society conference
Martha Turvey (Third year postgraduate student in the Ultrasound Group) has been announced as the winner of the best oral presentation prize at the British Liquid Crystal Society conference in April.
The conference took place at the University of Oxford and is open to all researchers from all fields of liquid crystal science, but aims to be a platform for early career researchers and allows delegates to present their work to an expert audience.
Martha presented about the use of liquid crystals as thin film sensors, to detect and measure ultrasonic fields.
‘The conference was interesting and very welcoming as an early career presenter. I enjoyed hearing from disciplines I don’t typically come across, and am very grateful for the award my talk won.’
The event takes place annually, at universities across the country.
