Fulbright Commission - Fulbright Awards
The UK Fulbright Awards programme looks for individuals interested in studying, researching or teaching at higher education institutions in the USA. Fulbright Awards are available to:
- Postgraduates (master's degrees, PhDs or independent research projects)
- Academics and other professionals (research, lecturing and professional development opportunities)
Our scholarships can cover any discipline at any accredited US institution. In addition to financial contributions they can include:
- Sickness and accident coverage
- J-1 visa sponsorship and pre-departure support & orientation
- Cultural enrichment programmes and events
- Support in the USA
- Access to a global alumni network of collaborative engagement and cultural diplomacy, with over 300,000 academically and professionally accomplished members
We assess more than intellectual merit and academic excellence. The best applications are from well-rounded applicants who can demonstrate:
- Strong academic proposals and/or research projects

- Genuine desire to learn more about the UK and to share aspects of American culture

UKRI Deadlines
Due to the implementation of a new UKRI funding system (TFS) there will be a fixed quarterly deadlines for some grants which would previously have been on open calls, this is to allow necessary system amendments and updates.
The first deadline after implementation will be 28th September 2023 and applies to those calls listed below:
