Export as iCalendar

Primary funder name: Wellcome

Closing date: 10 Sep 20

Full text: Wellcome and the Royal Society invite preliminary applications for the Sir Henry Dale fellowships. These support postdoctoral researchers who aim to become independent scientists leading their own groups addressing an important research question within their scientific remit. Applicants must have a PhD, significant postdoctoral research experience and have made important contributions to their area of research through, for example, publications, patents, software development or an impact on policy. They must be driving their own research and be ready to lead an independent research programme. They must also have sponsorship from a head of department or equivalent at an eligible host organisation in the UK. Applicants proposing to stay in their current department must describe how the proposal will further their independent career. Applicants wishing to conduct work mainly in LMICs may also need a sponsor in that location. Fellowships are tenable for five years and usually provide around £1.2 million, including a basic salary determined by the host organisation, a supplement of £7,500 for personal support, personal removal expenses, research expenses and other relevant expenses. They may be held on a part-time basis and fellows may apply for an additional three years.
