Sir Henry Dale fellowships - Wellcome Trust deadlinePrimary funder name: Wellcome Closing date: 10 Sep 20 Full text: Wellcome and the Royal Society invite preliminary applications for the Sir Henry Dale fellowships. These support postdoctoral researchers who aim to become independent scientists leading their own groups addressing an important research question within their scientific remit. Applicants must have a PhD, significant postdoctoral research experience and have made important contributions to their area of research through, for example, publications, patents, software development or an impact on policy. They must be driving their own research and be ready to lead an independent research programme. They must also have sponsorship from a head of department or equivalent at an eligible host organisation in the UK. Applicants proposing to stay in their current department must describe how the proposal will further their independent career. Applicants wishing to conduct work mainly in LMICs may also need a sponsor in that location. Fellowships are tenable for five years and usually provide around £1.2 million, including a basic salary determined by the host organisation, a supplement of £7,500 for personal support, personal removal expenses, research expenses and other relevant expenses. They may be held on a part-time basis and fellows may apply for an additional three years. EUREKA-Japan Globalstars joint callPrimary funder name: EUREKA Closing date: 10 Sep 20 Full text: EUREKA invites applications for its EUREKA-Japan Globalstars joint call. This supports joint research and development projects for innovative products and applications with a technological risk and a strong market potential within any sector. Military projects are excluded from the call. Companies in Japan, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Spain and the UK, may apply. Consortia must consist of at least two companies, one from Japan and one from one of the EUREKA countries participating in the call, and the companies must be independent from each other. Partners from other EUREKA countries and countries outside of EURKEA may participate with their own funding. The amount of funding available per project partner varies according to national rules and regulations. Projects may last up to 24 months.
