Journal Club Interviews...
We're looking to speak to some of the researchers and writers that are involved with the articles that we read and get a chance to put questions to them from the students that are taking part in Journal Club.
... Sophia Chen
First up, we're going to be speaking to Sophia Chen, who authored the article from week 10 of Journal Club. She's a freelance science writer based in America. You can see her website and links to loads of her articles here. She mostly covers topics such as physics, space, AI, and anything involving numbers for publications such as Wired, Science, New Scientist and Physics World. As a writer for these publications, she’s not necessarily an expert in the science, but rather an expert in communicating it – asking questions of the scientists to find ways of making the topic accessible. You can also find her words spoken in Physics Girl, a YouTube channel of more than 1.4 million subscribers. Sophia is a physicist by training, gaining a master’s degree in physics from the University of Arizona, and in 2012, she received a Fulbright scholarship to study air pollution in China. In 2015, she received the AAAS Mass Media fellowship on her current path as a science writer.
