PhD Title: Controlling spin qubits in diamond: Towards building a quantum computer

Research Summary: My PhD project will focus on controlling NV^- in diamond. The spin properties of this defect could allow for the future creation of qubit networks in diamond. A proposed design of a qubit network requires optical entanglement between qubit spins. To enhance entanglement, thin diamond membranes need to be fabricated to be placed in microcavities.
