Matthew Hand, MPhys (Hons)
I am a PhD student in the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick. I joined the Analytical Science Projects group to start my PhD, under the supervision of Prof. Mark Dowsett, in October 2009.
Previously, I worked with members of the ASP group for the final year project of my undergraduate course. This project was an investigation into the depth resolution limit of semiconductor depth profiles obtained using ultra-low-energy secondary ion mass spectrometry (ule-SIMS) - work which has since led to a publication.
My current project is focused on the development of an X-ray excited optical luminescence microscope (XEOM), a new intrument for the characterization of surface chemistry, with a current focus on the analysis of corrosion products formed on heritage metals.
