Background

I am a 1st year PhD student who joined the Robertson group in 2026. My PhD project involves synthesising single crystal ternary chromium chalcogenides, producing 2D samples via mechanical exfoliation. My aim is to explore multieferroic ordering and magnetoelectric coupling in 2D materials with a range of microscopy techniques. I will also fabricate simple devices in order to observe domain wall movement under electrical bias using in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

Previously I have worked on an Undergradute Research Summer Scheme (URSS) project in the Robertson group investiagting magnetic phase transitions in 2D CuBr2 at low temperatures. This involved the use of Raman spectroscopy to identify changes in Raman-Stokes emissions that would indicate a change in order.

I graduated from the University of Warwick in 2026 with an integrated master's degree in Physics awarded First Class, where my final year project focused on the use of ensembles of the diamond NV colour centre for quantum sensing. This project involved the fabrication of a novel sensor-head design to utilise side-illumination of a plate diamond to improve magnetic sensitivity.
