Oscar Long - PhD student in physics

I am a second-year PhD student, having joined the Robertson group in September 2024. For my project, I will be using graphene to fabricate graphene liquid cells, which can encapsulate small volumes of liquid samples. I will then use these cells to image the samples in the transmission electron microscope (TEM). In particular, I will be directly observing the growth of gold nanorods, by flowing the reactants into the graphene liquid cell while the sample is inside the TEM. I will also be fabricating electrochemical cells using graphene, which can be operated and imaged from inside the TEM. This will allow me to observe and study electrochemical processes in real time.
