Our Project
We are aiming to develop a sonification system, including a python code and interactive userface, that converts images, such as famous artworks, into short classical music excerpts, enabling those with visual impairments to experience visual art through sound.
What is Sonification?
Sonification is the use of sound to present data as an alternative or complement to visual representation, achieved by linking sound elements to data points in order to convey information.
Sonification is an interdisciplinary field that draws on acoustics, sound design, data science, computer and audio engineering, cognitive psychology and more, and applies these approaches to a wide range of areas, from musical composition and artworks, to accessibility, linguistics and informatics.
