Dawei Zhang

I joined Professor Marin Alexe’s group at the University of Warwick in February 2025 as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow. I obtained my PhD degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 2021, followed by a postdoctoral research position there until 2024. My research investigates the nanoscale functional properties of ferroelectric materials, particularly domain and domain wall structures under external stimuli such as electrical, mechanical, and optical perturbations. Various scanning probe microscopy techniques are employed, including ambient and environmental AFM, low-temperature, high-magnetic-field scanning probe microscopy, and scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscopy (s-SNOM). My material systems of interest include classic oxide ferroelectric thin films and bulk oxides, as well as emerging van der Waals ferroelectrics.
