Data Mining Prize to Mouna, Thais and Silvia

PhD students Mouna Akacha, Thais Fonseca and Silvia Liverani have won the Young Researcher Data Mining Prize at this year's meeting of the Classification and Data Analysis Group (CLADAG) of the Italian Statistical Society, hosted in Catania, Italy. The prize was sponsored by the SAS Institute.

The aim of the Competition was to promote the transfer of young researchers' new scientific knowledge to the operative world of the data mining users. The Competition asked for a solution to a real data mining problem.

Their winning entry proposed the use of a mixture of regression models and a Bayesian dynamic model for forecasting, and it will soon become available as a CRiSM report.

Congratulations to Mouna, Thais and Silvia!!
