Diversity within HVM Catapult
WMG Centre High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult specialises in innovation aimed at making transport cleaner, safer and more efficient. We are working with UK manufacturing partners to develop automated, connected, electric and shared mobility for a sustainable future. We work with a range of industrial partners such as Rolls Royce and BMW.
Our research capabilities are focused around four key themes:
- Transport and electrification
- Automated and connected vehicles
- Digital manufacturing
- Materials and manufacturing
Is this research area right for you?
You should have a strong background in sustainability and manufacturing as well as an interest in these fields. You should be proactive, and a problem solver who is able to contribute to several different projects at any one time.
You should be comfortable analysing and interpreting data and expressing this both verbally and in a report format. It will be important to be able to act strategically, to feed into a high-level strategy for the WMG Centre High Value Manufacturing Catapult. Transferrable skills including teamwork, organisation, ability to work under pressure and communication are essential. The use of software is desirable such as MATLAB/Simulink, CAD and Python.
What you'll work on
- Work on a variety of Catapult funded-projects within WMG and manage research aspects of the project including contributing to academic publications, technical reports and other presentations and dissemination methods
- Develop an understanding of the role of external funding through research grants or contracts to support the research agenda, and potentially contribute to applications to support research
- To provide necessary administration and project management during each project placement, this may include organising events, collating information on project activities, providing progress reports, and coordinating ethics and information governance activities
- To attend external events related to sustainability and net zero such as UKMF and gain knowledge through networking
