Professor Maggs speaks about his 21-year career at WMG and how the people make WMG so special.

How long have you worked at WMG?

Since May 1999.

What is your earliest memory?

Eating too many biscuits at break times in Arden house. I had a 20 a day habit!

Why do you choose to work for WMG?

My company was moving up North and had offered me a role. I had only just moved to the area and did not want to move. I saw that WMG were recruiting people CADCAM trainers and I applied. It was a great move and I have never looked back. I didn’t really know much about WMG at the time, but was aware that Warwick was a good university.

Are you proud of WMG’s 40-year history and what does this mean to you?

I am proud of the history and having been here so long that feel I have made a contribution.

What do you think the future holds for WMG and how do you see yourself supporting that?

It’s difficult to predict the future, but I know that the culture in WMG is to do what’s necessary to flex and adapt with the times. We try to do what is needed, not just what we are already good at.

What’s the best thing about WMG?

The people. It’s got fantastic facilities in a very nice university campus. But it’s the people that make it what it is, especially when they are kind, compassionate and willing to work together to make things work. We ask a lot of our staff, and they invariably step up and get the job done, and most are still smiling!
