MSc Cyber Security and Management (part-time)

“This is a fantastic course - very well composed, with a good balance of technical and business/enterprise level focus. The quality of delivery is very good also along with excellent teaching and enthusiasm from all lecturers. The teaching staff are great people. The course caters for a wide interest range and offers numerous entry points into the growing Cyber-professional market.

For me personally, I already have an established career and role, so my intention was always to complement this with a cyber-insight alongside an indisputable qualification. The University of Warwick has enabled me to work towards achieving that.”

The course really gave me the ability to step back and see the bigger picture. After I graduated I made the jump to management and now look after a team of 50 people. I find I apply the knowledge and approaches I learnt regularly to my role. Thanks to the course I also have a higher understanding of the importance of the softer side of management and I'd be really keen to do further study with WMG.

Studying at WMG has been an enormous benefit both in my professional and personal development and I would encourage anyone that has the opportunity to grasp it whole heartedly. The course taught me a lot about topics that I didn’t have a great deal of experience in but also provided opportunities to refresh learning and understand how industry peers deal with different issues. I see the benefits every day at work and I certainly approach situations with more confidence.

My experience of the MSc Engineering Business Management at WMG was wholly positive, not only in the content and topics covered within each module, but the opportunities for networking with people from a range of industries. Another great trait of the course, is the real life industry experience that the lecturers bring to the course. Covering a wide range of topics gave me a lot of exposure and networking opportunities when back at my company and actually lead to immediate career progression into a commercial management role.

Regular assessments throughout the course allow you to see how you are progressing and is much better than the traditional end-of-year exams. The broad curriculum helps develop a more ‘rounded’ engineer and allows you to study areas outside of your current role for the benefit of your longer term career. The scheme was (and still is) really attractive for me because it allows a clear path for professional development. I felt quite naive as an engineering graduate coming into the scheme but knew there was a clear path ahead of me, giving me an opportunity to find the niche that I fit into and providing a whole bunch of support in place for me should I need it.

Professor Song Xiaoruan

"I have two main points, the first one is that I can learn some different teaching ideas and interesting teaching methods. I think it is possible to improve my teaching methods when I’m back to China. Finally, I appreciate the opportunity to communicate with so many of my colleagues. We have lessons together and share our working experiences."

Professor Wenhao Luo North China University of Technology

“Actually I want to summarise in three words, the first one is the very beautiful and natural environment especially on campus and the facilities in WMG. The second would be professionalism- all the teachers and people here all work very professionally to make this programme very professional. The third one is of the course engagement and the whole teaching programme and courses. We see a lot of engagement between research, teaching and practice.”

Student Tutor: Zhan Fengmei

“I think my students benefit most by broadening their horizons. They learn more about English culture and history, they more about British higher education system, how classes are thought and so forth. I think WMG stands out from other schools because firstly Warwick University is a prestigious university and it ranks highly in recent European ratings, so the education quality is quite reliable and guaranteed. Secondly, WMG has a proud collaboration with industries so it can give students not only academic knowledge but also practical operation as well. I see students develop in many perspectives - from the sense of psychology and personality, I think, they become more cooperative, confident and show more initiative. And I think this will help students to gain more advantage in their future study and career development.

Vidya Narayanan - Graduate Development Programme - Success story.Vidya Narayanan

The highlight of the graduate scheme for me was the graduate group project I undertook during my first year on the scheme. Not only was it enjoyable to work with my peers, but I found it really useful to see how our work styles differ/our different approaches to solving problems. We also all have different skills/backgrounds and I felt that we were able to learn from each other without feeling embarrassed. This also really helped cement the great social relationships I have developed with the other graduates on the scheme, both in my cohort and the 2019 cohort.

“For me, I think I do have the expectation that our students can enhance their communication ability by visiting this school by taking the class given by the professors and discuss about the projects or courses in class. I do hope that all the students can enjoy their time here because the campus is so beautiful and it will give them a very good impression. WMG is a building a bridge between research and application and is a blend of entrepreneurial spirit and the academic excellence of this university, it’s a good choice for them.”
