We caught up with Jaymisha recently (February 2021) to ask her to reflect back on her apprenticeship journey so far:

My name is Jaymisha Nayee and I am a second-year software engineer apprentice working at Thales. I decided to explore a technology and engineering career after I took both Computer Science and Information Technology at GCSE and enjoyed both subjects immensely. During my first year of sixth form, I applied for work experience at Thales after hearing a talk from an apprentice who had attended my secondary school. After sixth form I made the decision to begin a Degree Apprenticeship and not follow the tradition university route. Now I am in my second year of studying at WMG, University of Warwick whilst working at Thales developing Air Traffic Control software for many different countries. Becoming an apprentice was one of the best decisions I have ever made, I have been able to study my passion whilst also taking on the responsibility and valuable hands-on experience of being in a workplace environment.
